Gabriel Klasmer
Gabriel Klasmer (b. 1950, Jerusalem; lives and works in Jerusalem and London) holds Ph.D and MFA from the Royal College of Art, London, and he also studied for a BFA at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem.
Klasmer, a renowned painter and sculptor, has gained recognition for his work, including the Nata Dushnitski – Kaplan Prize for Research, in memory of Israeli Artist Nata, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tel Aviv; the Bronze Medal, Triennial for Applied Art, Milan, Italy; the Sandberg Prize for Israeli Art, Israel Museum, Jerusalem; the George and Janet Jaffin Prize for Excellence in Plastic Arts given by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation; and the Jacques and Eugenie Ohana Prize for a Young Israeli Artist, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tel Aviv.
Klasmer's work has featured in solo exhibitions including the Tel Aviv Museum of Art; the Israel Museum, Jerusalem; the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art; Givon Gallery, Tel Aviv; Stephen Wirtz Gallery, San Francisco, CA; Alexia Goethe Gallery, London; Hubertus Wunschik Gallery, Munchengladbach, Germany; Gallery Pierre Brulle, Paris; Hubertus Wunschik Gallery, Dusseldorf, Germany; and the Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerp. He has also taken part in group exhibitions, including at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem; the Tel Aviv Museum of Art; the Haifa Museum; Mishkan Museum Ein Harod; the Museum of Modern Art, Saitama, Japan; Fukuoka Art Museum Japan; the Jewish Museum, New York; Serpentine Gallery, London. He has also been exhibited internationally in venues and events, including the 23rd International Biennial of Sao Palo, Brazil and at the 42nd Venice Biennale.
